Mechanics are hired by player-owned garages. Each garage has their own employee list, and can make their own invoices for their clients. It's recommended you familiarize yourself with the Customization section, before reading this guide.
Once you are hired by a business, you will get your own "Mechanic tablet". This will be what you use for most of your jobs. To use the mechanic tablet, you must have the mechanic job assigned to you. Then, you can open your inventory, right click on the tablet, and select "use". You can also add it to your first row, and use 1-5 to use it easier.
The first thing you'll see when you open the tablet is a login screen. You need to select the garage you work for, and press the login button to advance. If you're not hired with that business, you won't be able to log in.
Once logged in, you'll see the current options available to you.
In order to work on a car, you must first connect to it. To do that, press the "Connect Vehicle" button at the bottom of the tablet's interface. You will get a prompt, asking which car you wish to connect to. It will only show cars that are near you. Select the correct one, and, once that's done, click connect. Once you're connected, new options will appear related to modifying the car that's currently selected.
Cars need to be serviced every now and again. As they are driven more, parts get damaged, and they must be replaced. This is done from the service screen.
To service a specific component, click the wrench and screwdriver icon near what you want to service. You will need to have parts in your inventory to be able to do this. If you're missing a part, a popup will appear telling you what part you need, and how many.
You can test a car's performance by using this option. Hit the dyno icon, and then start dyno test. It will ask you to get inside the car for the test to begin. Once you do, press Enter to begin the test. After a minute or so, your results will be finished, and displayed.
There will be a letter after Torque and Power. That will give an indication of how good the car is compared to every other car available on the server. A low score doesn't mean the car is in bad shape, however. It COULD mean that, but not necessarily. A cheap, beater car will have a lower mark than a brand new supercar, that's to be expected. Scored can be improved by upgrading parts, and servicing a vehicle.
Tuning can only be done by a mechanic, and it involves adding parts that can't be added by using a self service garage. These HAVE to be added by a mechanic.
Each of these upgrades requires parts to be used. A popup will appear detailing what part is needed if it's not in the mechanic's inventory.
To tune a car, click the tuning icon, and then click install next to the desired option. This is the full list of upgrades:
Once selected, a minigame will appear. It will prompt you to go to the engine, and begin said minigame.
A circle will appear at the middle of the screen, and a key to press. When the red indicator is inside the blue mark, press the button that appears in the prompt. After a while of doing this, the part will be installed.
Nitrous allows someone a boost of speed at will. It requires a NOS kit, and nitrous gas. A car can have up to three kits installed at a time. Each one adds more nitrous available to the driver.
